Wrestling
Mr. Steven Santimauro coaches the wrestling team every Tuesday and Thursday from October through December. Through a partnership with Beat the Streets, BLES scholars in grades 3-5 are able to apply to be a part of the team every year in the fall.
Cheerleading
In September 2019, scholars in grades 3-5 (and 6-8 from BEES) were able to tryout for our very first Cheerleading Team. Ms. Deloach (Educational Assistant) is the dance instructor, Ms. Daley (3K teacher) is the cheer instructor and Ms. Gore (ENL teacher) is the step instructor. Together, these three ladies are teaching our scholars how to perform the most amazing routines and stunts ever! This year, the Dazzling Penguins (named after Percy the Penguin, our school mascot) will perform during Town Halls, Community Circle and school-wide events such as the Black History Month Showcase, Fashion &Talent Show and End of Year Dance Festival. They will also perform in the annual NYC dance/cheer competition.
