Third Street Music School

Third Street Music School offers weekly music instruction to our scholars in 3K, PreK and Kindergarten. Third Street Music School is the longest-running community music school in the United States. It was founded in 1894! Third Street has 3 main programs- a music & dance school, a music-infused Preschool and a Partners program. BLES is proud to partner with Third Street Music School!

STUDIO IN A SCHOOL

BLES is in Year 6 of Studio in a School's Long-Term residency program.  (studioinaschool.org)  This program provides art instruction to various grades for five consecutive years with a dedicated artist/instructor, a dedicated art studio and a full supply of high quality art materials. Students receive visual arts experiences that encourage them to explore their imaginations and meet the city's visual arts performance standards. Student artwork is prominently displayed in changing exhibitions throughout the school and is also eligible for Studio's citywide exhibitions.

Scholars explore 2D and 3D media including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and printmaking! We are grateful for partners like Studio in a School!

REPAIR THE WORLD

Repair the World (weRepair.org) provides BLES with several volunteers who help out with various school wide events such as Career Day, the Father's Day Breakfast and the Hispanic Heritage Month Festival. Repair the World also does various service and beautification projects at the school such as the Meditation Nook they created on MLK day, 2019! We are grateful for partners like Repair the World!

NEW YORK CARES

New York Cares provides volunteers to complete beautification projects at our school. Thus far, they have painted indoor and outdoor wall murals and canvases, reorganized books in our library, helped with bulletin boards, renovated our Teacher's Lounge and cleaned out and organized our supply closets. New York Cares also provides volunteers to run a Sports and Arts Program for children on Saturdays as a part of Saturday School or while parents are attending a workshop. New York Cares also facilitates classroom activities with our scholars during weekdays. (www.newyorkcares.org) We are grateful for partners like New York Cares!
